The Lake

Chase and I were able to go up to Park City last Wednesday, for a little get away with some of his family. We didn't do much, mostly just sat in the hot tub and layed by the pool. Friday night Chases dad brought the boat up, and we headed out to Jordanelle. Chase and I were able to learn how to back the trailer, put the boat in the water, tow someone on the tube or wake board, and put the boat back on the trailer. (We've been wanting to learn since last year, but have had some issues with other people always taking over). We only spent a few hours out on the lake Friday night, but headed out again Saturday morning. My sister Shaunda and her husband and kids met up with us (the kids had never been on a boat before). We had a great time. Anyone want to go out let us know, we'd love to take you!
Chase and Ed visiting while I figured out wake boarding finally. Last year all I could do was fall. This year I just pop right out of the water. (I was going to post a video of me last year, but I have to go through a big folder full to find the right ones.)
Not only did I get up for longer than 2 seconds, I got outside the wake. Now it's just learning to get back in.
Kellen, Teagan, and Porter on the tube.
I swear I'm the only one that puts on sunscreen most of the time. I put it on quite a few times Saturday, but I'm still the on the got fried to a crisp. I'm pretty uncomfortable now, but hoping I don't get as burnt when we head to Bear Lake the end of August.

Photo of the day.....postponed

If you have come here within the past few weeks you would know that I was doing a picture of the day. Well, for now, I am postponing picture of the day (if you didnt already know, since its been a few days since one was posted) because I am inbetween cameras right now. I am transitioning to my new camera, so as soon as I get that one picture of the day will resume. But as for this post enjoy a picture of my dog from when he was a puppy. He is two years old today (this pic of course is from when he was probably ten weeks or so old) Happy bday little dude. Enjoy!

Gus' Song

Sorry if this is annoying to some of you, we think it's pretty cute that Gus will sing along with the harmonica. Chase and I had just got home from dinner, and I was looking through a drawer in our bedroom. Chase saw his harmonica, and this is what ensued.

Photo of the day 15/365

We got to watch Camden today. We went outside and played a little bit before it was time to calm down for bed. She gets pretty hyper right before her bedtime. This is her getting some of her energy out (if thats possible).

Photo of the day 14/365

Gus has a ton of energy as you might imagine, him being an italian greyhound and all. So we like to take him to the dog park so he can play with other dogs and get some of his energy out. However when we took him today there was not a single dog to play with in the dog park. So after letting him sniff around for a bit and mark every tree in the dog park we decided to go home. Here he is on one of the rocks in the dog park.

This is me and my two nieces, Camden over my left shoulder and Teagan on my right. The neighbor across the street has a pool and we went over there to swim today. It was fun and felt refreshing in this heat.

Yup, that is 32 boxes of cereal! My wife got a very good deal. Under a dollar per box after rebates. Interested? Head over to http://iloveagooddeal.blogspot.com/ for this rebate and other good deals! Then head to Target this week and pick up your Kellogg's cereal, for $1.88 a box (You have to buy 10 for the rebate. You can also price match at Walmart). Now my wife has provided food for me for a very long time! Thanks babe!

The tale of the new toy

Last weekend Chase and I decided to head to the pet store and get Gus a new stuffy toy. He'd been such a great dog the week before when we went boating, and didn't have to be on his leash the whole time. (This is not normal, he gets distracted very easily and will run off and not listen.)We stood in the store and debated over a few toys, trying to guess which one could live the longest. Chase chose this thick canvas blue dog with a fuzzy raccoon tail. Brought it home and gave it to Gus, who was so excited to have a new toy he forgot that we were even home. (If you know Gus at all, you know that he won't usually let us get in the house before he attacks us and smothers us with kisses, and loves.) He had the toy for maybe 5 minutes and had already ruined one of the squeakers, and not even 10 minutes into having it had ripped a hole in it. The stuffing and squeaker were gone. So if you ever come to our house and see our dog playing with a nasty stuffy body, you know why. Stuffys are easily destroyed at our house. Gus doesn't get them very often anymore. Instead he shreds up junk mail, maybe one day I'll get a picture of the destruction.
Just getting the new toy, so in love. Must chew chew chew.
Uh Oh he found the squeaker. Game on.

My wife has been sick for the past few days. She loves to cuddle with our little boy Gus. It makes her feel better, as you can see. Hopefully she will start to feel better soon.

Photo of the day 10/365

Wow, we have reached double digits in the photo of the day! I will let my wife explain todays photo. It is a photo of a wedding cake she made and we delivered to the wedding late this afternoon. She is amazing and very talented!
Kinda crazy, I'm here blogging on the blog that was basically just mine till 10 days ago when Chase hijacked it. I'm still in the process of learning to decorate wedding cakes, and I get pretty frustrated sometimes. Today was no exception. I have been sick this week, so doing this cake was a struggle. I got it all baked on Tuesday, put it in the freezer till Friday, and finally got to work yesterday morning. Yesterday I got it all stacked, thawed, and frosted. Mom helped me with the fondant (mostly because I wasn't feeling fantastic), and we left it to sit till today. This morning I got the bottom two layers stacked together, and the top on the pillars. I've never done a border before, so I practiced a lot on a plate. I finally sat down at the cake and got the border on, walked away for a few hours. Came back upstairs 2 hours before we had to leave to make the delivery, and my borders were melting. YIKES, I had a little freak out. Mom helped me scrape off the border and we changed the type of frosting I was using. I was able to re-pipe the border, and calm down. We got the cake delivered on time, and the above picture is the end result. The bride and all her brides maids loved the cake.

For my music class that I'm currently enrolled in, I have to attend 5 different concerts. We have now attended Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band, and the Utah Symphony at Taylorsville Dayzz. Last night we were able to attend the Jon Schmidt concert at the Sandy Ampatheater, it was a great show. Sorry I'm a day late on posting, we were pretty tired when we got home last night.

Photo of the day 8/365

Seems there has been a theme this last week huh? Our dog Gus makes yet another appearance. We were out back throwing the frisbee around and I was able to catch this shot. He is just too much fun to photograph. Hopefully this weekend we can get around town and get some different shots. Enjoy!

Photo of the day 7/365

Two posts in one day. Well don't tell anyone, but I forgot to take a pic yesterday. So you get two today. My wife took one of them and here is the one I did for day 7. This is Camden, our cute little niece. We were watching her tonight, and she likes playing with our dog. Our dog likes to give kisses, so watch out if you are ever over here. Well He managed to sneak in a couple of kisses on Camden, but I think she liked it a little too much.

Photo of the day 6/365

This picture comes to you from my wife Kim. Some days I am just so tired after work! And today was one of those days. As I was asleep she managed to take a picture of me without waking me. I think the funny thing she really was trying to capture was our dog Gus, poking his head out at her.

Photo of the day 5/365

Every year, the neighbors near my parents throw a bbq on the 5th of July. Since the 5th was a Sunday, They held it today. We went and had some delicious burgers and plenty of sweets. The photo of the day is my father. Caught this pic as we were sitting there chatting. The neighbors usually purchase a bunch of illegal fireworks and have a show of their own, but Kim and I were tired so we didn't stay for that part.

A man's best friend!
Is it any wonder why a dog is a man's best friend. Our dog is a very good dog. Very loyal, very cuddly, and very kind. He is also very smart, and can run very fast. Whenever we take him to the dog park and he feels like it, he can actually out run most any dog there, including all the big dogs. He only weighs around 14 pounds! He actually turns two in a few weeks. But this is him resting on my leg on our way to the family sunday dinner at my parents.

Photo of the day 3/365

The 4th of July my family took our boat out to Yuba Lake. As I was working on learning to drive the boat, we decided to stop in the middle of the lake for a swim. This is my brother Connor doing a back flip off the boat. The water was a bit cold to the touch but actually felt nice once you got in. Its always fun to get out to the lake for a boating trip. We will be going up to a lake by Park City soon for a few days, and then in August we are going to be taking a week vacation up to Bear Lake! Pictures to come for those days too!

Photo of the Day 2/365

Ever since my wife was a little girl, her family would go to the Riverton Parade every year on the the 3rd of July. It has now become an excuse to get the whole family together and enjoy everyones company. We get together and watch the parade and also enjoy a BBQ . This picture comes to you from the parade today. In it you can see my little niece Teagan next to her brother in red, and her cousin Marissa to her left. They are putting their hands out to get a high five from the cool police driving by on their motorcycles.

Photo of the Day 1/365

I thought I would spice this blog up a bit. And since I am here not really contributing to our family blog, I thought in some way I could help. Well I am here to announce the photo of the day journal. I will have a photo of the day from here on out, showcasing our lives through a photo everyday! The Photo will be of an event from that day. So here it is, number one photo of today and of the series. Gus had to see the eye doctor today and this is the prescription glasses that were given to him.
