Little Laughs

Owen has a great laugh, and is usually pretty stingy with what he laughs at. Chase found something that made him laugh, but in the end he can't decide if he wants to laugh or cry. Oh how I love this boy.

Oh Christmas Tree

For Owens first Christmas, Chase wanted to make sure we had our own Christmas tree. We decided we liked the look of the white tree, and I had all the ornaments from a few years ago when I bought them on clearance. I think the colors look great together, but that the star on top is a bit large for how small the tree is. Owen loves to sit on the couch in the dark and just stare at the tree and lights. I'm so happy that a small purchase can make him so happy.

7 months

Wow I've been a slacker.
Owen is now 7 months old and, getting cuter and cuter every day. He's started rolling around like crazy. He tries a little to sit up by himself, but is still really wobbly. He has no teeth, and we don't see any in the near future. He loves to feed himself, and use a sippy cup. He loves the lights on the Christmas tree, and any light in general. He's still a great sleeper at night, but has decided that going to bed before 8 or 8:30 isn't his thing.
We are head over heel in love with this little man, and can't imagine our lives without him. He sure knows how to tug at the heart strings. Here's our seven month old cutie!

Happy Holidays

We finally got our Christmas Cards printed, and mailed out. Chase of course took the photo, and I had what I wanted it to look like in my head. I think they turned out great, and we hope you all like them too!

6 months

It's crazy to think that our little man is 6 months old already (a week ago). Where has the time gone? Just in the last few weeks he's discovered his tongue and it's out almost constantly. He loves to roll around on the floor, and play with his toys. Get the dog. Eat eat eat, I don't think we've found anything that he hasn't loved after a few bites. He sleeps well at night usually going to bed around 8 and has been sleeping till around 4, wakes up and eats then goes back to sleep for a few more hours. He's still not the best napper during the day, and will usually only sleep if one of us is holding him, which is pretty inconvenient at times. I usually just hold him while he sleeps and use the computer to check emails or blogs. He's still in 0-3 month clothes, but wearing 3 month jammies at night. He's got the greatest little laugh, and smile, and he tells great stories. He loves anything that lights up, and will strain his body to see lights on ceilings. There are no signs of any teeth in his little gummy mouth, and he could care less about trying to learn to sit up. Ever time I try and help him sit up he won't bend his body, and either stands up or wants to lay down.

We sure love our little O and couldn't imagine our lives without him. I love being his mommy, and thank my heavenly father every day for sending him to me. He truly is our little miracle, and we are so happy to have him.

6 month stats: weight 12 lbs. 5 oz. height 24.4" He's still not on the growth chart, just following under it at the same pace, but the pediatrician seems to be fine with where he's at, and is happy to see him growing and so healthy.

Now onto the pictures (I couldn't pick just one this month, because lets face it O is just too dang cute). This was the first time I actually let him hold Zeus, he loved it.

Things are a bit batty around here

For Owens first Halloween I had all these fun ideas in my head for his costume but lets face it. I'm just too lazy to make him a costume at this stage of the game. Plus when I saw this adorable little bat costume at Target, I had to buy it. I couldn't have made anything for cheaper. I think it fit him well, and he looked freaking adorable.
Sadly we were sick on Halloween, so we just stayed home and passed out candy to the kids that braved the rain. Thankfully we have Chase who can snap some photos in the studio when mamma fails to take Owen to the pumpkin patch for his photos like planned.

Just because

I found these photos of Owen from the last week, and lets face it he's adorable.
He was helping his daddy in the studio, and fell asleep in his little chair.

We went to help Chase with a photo shoot the other night, and he had us stand in so he could test the light. Here's the end product. I think we look pretty good. I sure love my little Owey man!

Family Photos 2010

I had been wanting some nicer family photos of our little family since after our anniversary in July, and decided we might as well do them in the fall leaves. So we headed up the canyon, and Chase snapped a few. He was busy running back and forth between the camera and standing in the photos, so we only got a few good ones of Owen looking at the camera. Next time we'll bring someone with us to push the button and get Owens attention.
We'll be using the photos for Christmas cards in the next month. Hopefully Chase will have time to get them done, he's been one busy guy the last month or so with lots of family photo sessions, and school.
On another note, I dyed my hair darker back in September, per Chases request. I've always done my hair blond, so this was quite a change. It was pretty crazy getting it to look right. Poor Jeannette had to do 3 processes of color on me, and my hair still came out pretty red. It's mellowed quite a bit now, and I actually really like it. We'll see how long the dark lasts before I'm dying to have my hair blond again.

Our favorite, and the one we'll be using for our Christmas cards.

Me and my hubby

This one would have been my favorite since Owen is actually smiling, but I couldn't get over his funky hair in his face.

Sisters

While on our sisters weekend back in July, Chase came and took some photos of all of us together. I think they turned out great, and we had a lot of fun giggling while taking them.

5 months

Owen turned 5 months old a week ago, but daddy has been super busy with other edits so we weren't able to post his photo sooner. You can tell he's growing, and getting chubby. Guess all the rice cereal is doing it's job.
We had an appointment with a surgeon this past Monday, to discuss the details of when and how to fix Owens hernia. He will be having surgery next Tuesday October 26th. Please keep your prayers with him, and his mommy and daddy as this is a stressful thing even if it's only a 15 minute surgery. We aren't looking forward to all the hospital bills that will be coming soon after. We just got his birth paid off.
Well onto what you really came to look at, the adorable almost 12 pound boy!His hair is now too long for his fohawk.
Looks a bit scared here, I don't remember what we were doing. Man he's a cutie!

Maya Beaties

Cousin Josh and Elaine's little girl Maya was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a little over a year ago. They as a family will be participating in the JDRF walk on November 6, 2010 in Tucson, AZ. They made this adorable video letter for the cause. Please check it out.

You can also donate to team Maya Beaties HERE if you'd like.

He loves the kitty cat

While at Bear Lake, auntie Brena was playing with Owen and showing him Camden's sewing cards. Owen was loving looking at them, and acting so cute. He really loves his auntie, and is always doing cute things for her. I especially love his reaction to the kitty cat and the bunny rabbit.

First solid food

At Owens 4 month check up the pediatrician looked at Owens growth chart and said everything looked fine, even though Owen was under the curve he was following right along it. Then the pediatrician looked at Owens face and said he didn't think he was chubby enough, so we were sent home with orders to either give Owen a formula bottle after he nursed to make sure he is getting full enough, or start feeding him solid food. We tried the formula thing, but Owen wanted nothing to do with it, and kept looking at me like I was crazy.
So here we are at 4 months and 4 days old eating rice cereal. Owen loves the stuff, and finished off the first bowl I ever gave him. We make sure to let him have it at least once a day, but today he got lucky and got to have it twice. Hopefully this helps him chunk up a little and make the pediatrician happy. We'll get to see the progress in a week or so when we go in for a weight check. Mommy really wasn't ready for this step yet, it means that my baby is growing up faster than I ever thought possible.

4 months

Our little man is 4 months old, it's crazy how time flies when we are having so much fun. We are head over heels in love with this little guy. He is growing, just slowly. As of his 4 month appointment he is 9 pounds 14 ounces, and 23 and 1/2 inches tall.
He sleeps great at night, usually going to bed between 8 and 9 PM and waking up between 6 and 7 AM. He eats and then goes back to sleep again for up to another 2 hours. He has trouble napping during the day though. Does anyone have any advice for getting him to nap without mommy having to hold him. I tried to talk to the pediatrician about it, and he asked "would you rather have him sleep during the day, or at night." I chose night.

when screaming = still cute

I was cleaning some things off the desktop on chases imac and saw this picture of Owen from his blessing photo shoot. I think even though he is screaming he is still super adorable, maybe I'm a meanie though.

Bear Lake 2010

We were able to take a week long vacation the end of August to Bear Lake with Chases family. It was lots of fun, and we spent a lot of time just hanging out on the beach. I was able to get out on the boat a few times, as Brena and Camden were there and willing to watch Owen for me. I look forward to next year when Owen can actually play in the water and hopefully enjoy the lake a little more.
Owens first feel of the water, it was pretty warm and he didn't seem to mind it.

New Friends

Last week, August 11, 2010. I had lunch at the park with a few of my friends from high school; Erica and Julianna. We all had babies recently, and thought it would be fun to get them together for a "play date". The girls loved owen, at one point Ella was holding Owens hand, and Esper was holding onto Owen for dear life. Hopefully we can all get together again before it gets too cold and the babies can play together again.

Owens Blessing

Not the best family photo, I had been crying, Owen was hungry, and Chase was just doing what I told him to do.

On Sunday August 1, 2010 Chase was able to bless Owen and give him a name and a blessing. Owen objected by quietly crying during the whole thing. It was a beautiful blessing. Owen was blessed with health and strength, the desire to serve a mission, and to find a beautiful wife whom he could love and take to the temple. I know there were other blessings, but I forgot to ask someone to write things down for me to remember.

I had grand plans for my mom to sew Owens blessing outfit. I bought all the fabric and pattern, but the pattern was just too big. So Chase and I resorted to buying him one. We brought it home to find out it was the same size as the pattern, but there was a no return policy, so we ended up keeping it. He sure looked cute in his little white outfit, courtesy of Sundays Child. Booties that his aunt Catrina made for him. And blanket from Aunt Colleen. He sure is an angel.
I thank my heavenly father every day for sending me this miracle baby, and for teaching me faith, and patience. I make sure Owen knows he is worth all the pain, and bed rest I went through to get him here. I would never send him back.

Owen's giggle

Owen finally let out his first giggle, Saturday August 7, 2010. Who knew that all it would take was some fart noises? We haven't heard it again, but know one day we are in trouble. Until then we have this video to make us smile.

Sister's weekend

I just got back from a great extended weekend with my sisters and mom. We spent Thursday July 29 through Saturday July 31 in Park City, Utah. It was so much fun! No husbands or kids, except Owen, were allowed. We spent most of our days shopping on Main street and the outlets, but our evenings were filled with card making, movies and games...and very little sleeping.

Thursday morning we had my friend Rebecca come to Brenas house and do glitter toes for all of us. It was a fun way to start off our weekend, and all of us had beautiful toe nails.

We were all laughing about the flip-flop tans we all have and decided that Catrina's were definitely the best (Although in this picture Shaunda's are pretty great). The favorite color went to Mindy's blue toes and the award for "They're blue...no wait they're green...no wait they're grey...maybe they're purple..." went to Shaunda. For those of you counting toes, not counting my mom, there are six girls in my family. Yup five totally AWESOME sister's for me. I have one brother. Sadly, his wife couldn't make it for our weekend.

One of our favorite things to do when we're together is to have an ugly fashion show. We go shopping and see who can find the ugliest outfit or article of clothing. We didn't find too many ugly things. I don't know if it's because we weren't really paying attention to the ugly things or there weren't too many of them. Sadly I'm not in any of the pictures, but it's ok to embarrass my sisters on my blog, right

We ended our official weekend by purchasing a pair of totally rad, but mostly just cheap, shoes. We wrote little notes on the then threw them in the shoe tree. Shaunda and I were put in charge of throwing the shoes into the tree. My first throw was an awesome one, the shoes hit the tree and fell to the ground. So we tried again, about 15 times. Before they finally managed to snag another pair of shoes and were hanging on for dear life.
Throwing the shoes made for a good laugh, and I only wish we would have had a video camera handy.

Needless to say, I have the BEST sisters and mom in the world! Thanks for the fabulous weekend! I can't wait to do it again!

5 years

Yesterday Chase and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary, by going out for sushi, and taking this family photo. A few anniversaries ago we decided that we would take a family photo every year on our anniversary, so we could see how our family was growing and changing. It took us a few years to get Owen here, but we are so happy that he was able to be part of our family photo this year.
It's crazy to me to think that it's already been 5 years. Chase and I have had so many ups and downs, and lots of heart ache in 5 short years. I know I love Chase more today than the day I married him, and I'm happy to keep him around for eternity, and grow old with him.
Love you babe!

Great Grandpa

Due to a job my dad is working on, and had to go to Elberta, Utah to measure. Owen and I were able to go along for the ride, and then onto Levan where my grandpa George lives. Owen had not met his great grandpa yet, and I had not seen grandpas new home, since I was on bed rest when my mom and her siblings moved grandpa from West Jordan to Levan. Now that I'm not on bed rest I need to stop making excuses and go visit grandpa more often.
I was excited for Owen to meet his great grandpa, and was not disappointed when he finally did. Grandpa was in awe of this tiny being, and enjoyed holding him. Owen loved grandpa, and calmed right down once grandpa took him. We are excited to be able to have grandpa come up for Owens blessing in a few weeks and can't wait to see him again.
