Photo of the day 4/365

A man's best friend!
Is it any wonder why a dog is a man's best friend. Our dog is a very good dog. Very loyal, very cuddly, and very kind. He is also very smart, and can run very fast. Whenever we take him to the dog park and he feels like it, he can actually out run most any dog there, including all the big dogs. He only weighs around 14 pounds! He actually turns two in a few weeks. But this is him resting on my leg on our way to the family sunday dinner at my parents.

The 4th of July my family took our boat out to Yuba Lake. As I was working on learning to drive the boat, we decided to stop in the middle of the lake for a swim. This is my brother Connor doing a back flip off the boat. The water was a bit cold to the touch but actually felt nice once you got in. Its always fun to get out to the lake for a boating trip. We will be going up to a lake by Park City soon for a few days, and then in August we are going to be taking a week vacation up to Bear Lake! Pictures to come for those days too!

Photo of the Day 2/365

Ever since my wife was a little girl, her family would go to the Riverton Parade every year on the the 3rd of July. It has now become an excuse to get the whole family together and enjoy everyones company. We get together and watch the parade and also enjoy a BBQ . This picture comes to you from the parade today. In it you can see my little niece Teagan next to her brother in red, and her cousin Marissa to her left. They are putting their hands out to get a high five from the cool police driving by on their motorcycles.

Photo of the Day 1/365

I thought I would spice this blog up a bit. And since I am here not really contributing to our family blog, I thought in some way I could help. Well I am here to announce the photo of the day journal. I will have a photo of the day from here on out, showcasing our lives through a photo everyday! The Photo will be of an event from that day. So here it is, number one photo of today and of the series. Gus had to see the eye doctor today and this is the prescription glasses that were given to him.

Where We've Been

I don't have pictures for the first 2 events. My camera decided to eat them. No clue why.

On June 19th, Chase and I went to see Disney's Up in 3D, it was a cute movie. Definitely not worth the price to see it in 3D though, nothing jumped out, and the glasses kind of made me sick. (I did take a picture of us before the movie started with the goofy glasses, so imagine that here.)

Next on the 20th we attended the Jordan river rotary park fundraiser and classic car show. My dad is a member of the rotary club, and asked us if we would like to go, we figured since he was paying for our ticket we would. We invited Chases cousin Parker along, he enjoyed it a lot more than we did. Again the camera was full of car pictures that Parker had taken, and my camera ate them. Camera must think that car pictures are tasty. MMMMM oily.

My sister Mindy and her family were in town visiting last week (June 23-27), so we spent most of the week with them just hanging out. We had a barbecue, went to the splash park, the Oquirrh Mountain temple open house, and the Lehi Children's parade
"Scruff" and I, in front of the temple. He's since had a haircut and shaved his face.

Last night (June 29th) we attended the Utah Symphony performance at Taylorsville Dayzz. Chase is currently enrolled in an intro to music class, and has to attend 3 classical, and 2 concerts of his choice before the end of the semester. This was the second concert we've been to in the last month. The first was Ryan Shupe and the Rubber Band at the Sandy Amphitheater in the rain. It was let's just say interesting.
The "normal" picture, after at least 5 goofy ones of Chase, this is what we got.
The Symphony conductor David Cho, he did a great job, but still needs to work on his English quite a bit.

In between all the hanging out with sisters, and concerts. I've been helping my mom with wedding cake central. A 5oth wedding anniversary cake for June 29th. A wedding cake for June 30th, and another wedding cake for July 1st. If you can even call the one for the first a cake, the whole thing is made out of cereal. Pictures to come soon.

Beautiful Hair

This last Friday night my sister Brena and I went up to our sister Shaundas house in Bountiful for a sleep over. We watched some chick flicks and went to bed. In the morning Brena was in the process of doing our niece Teagans hair. Camden was trying to help her mommy, but mommy told her to do Aunt "Shim's" hair. (She calls me Shim, quite funny because she knows my name starts with a K.) After Brena was done with Teagans hair, Teagan asked to do Brenas hair. Here's the end results. What do you think, do we have future stylists on our hands?

I think we could both use a few more barrettes in our hair.

Congratulations Graduate

It's been a long time in the making, and lots of blood sweat and tears on the part of Chases mom. But Chases little brother Connor finally graduated from high school last night. At the end of Connors junior year he was just going to give up and get his GED, he was so behind and needed to make up at least 6 classes. He went in to talk to his counselor about his choice and they came up with a different plan. Connor would stay in school and make up his 6 classes via BYU independent study packets, and lots of yelling from his mom. He finished up just in time.

The graduate heading up to get his diploma

With his parents. Nothing beats forced smiles from all.
Connor, no matter how much we all made fun of you (Because you really are a smart kid, just a little lazy), we really are proud of you. Good luck in college.

The big 5-0

For our fiftieth post Gus will show you some tricks. I know I make it sound like 50 is a big deal, it's not very often that you get to see our sweet puppers in action. Soooo..... onto the show.

Chase has been working with Gus since we got him almost two years ago. Trying to teach him new tricks. Gus knows the order I will do them in so he just does them all and then expects a treat. Chase on the other hand mixes it up, so he can't just do what he wants. Here's a video of him doing the tricks he currently knows how to do.
And now Chase is in the process of teasing him, by spinning him around with a rope and watching him run while he's dizzy.

Your Eyes

Back before Chase and I got married he wrote me this song. I instantly fell in love and made him try and record it for me, it wasn't very good quality. Well last night he re-recorded it, posted it on Youtube and Facebook and I didn't know till today. I went to listen and started crying. I can thank my dad for that.
Does anyone know how to post his music on our music player? I know how to post stuff that is just floating around the internet.

Race for the cure

Today I walked in the Race for the Cure, with my Mother in law, and some of her friends from work. We were the "Stream Team." She works in a urologists office, hence the stream. Carol in the bright pink shirt is a breast cancer survivor so we all walked in her honor. We finished up in just a little over an hour. What a great way to spend a Saturday morning.

Sorry I can't name everyone in the picture. I'm the one in the orange sweater 3 from the left, my sister in law Kelsey is the one in the shadow to my right. Mother in law Vicki next to me on the right. Father in law Guy is the tall one with the white hat. Aunt Teri is in front of Guy, and her daughter jen is in front of her with the really short shorts on.
